Collaboration with Break the Cycle Community Art, Inc.
Our Vision is to enhance our school cuniculum using the Jail Trail and BCCA community garden as our environmental laboratory. Our main focus will be studying the riparian area. BCCA has began an after school art program in conjunction with C.C.E. studies. Our goal is to work in partnership with the community and Old Town Association. Many community organizations will be donating materials for our projects. Throughout our program we will be doing field trips and workshops in Old Town. We will be combining Montessori philosophy and BCCA's creative endeavors to explore, discover and learn the Verde River Greenway.
In addition, our projects will culminate into displays in the Old Town Jail and Garden area. This will tie into an "Earth Day Event on Sat. April 20. The children will perform earth awareness music, songs and poetry. Our exhibits will not only be unique pieces of art, but will provide multisensory manipulative learning materiais used in the Montessori learning environment, to offer awareness to our community and visitors to be more aware of rich natural and cultural resources. We hope to provide a setting to share our enthusiasm of what we have learned and observed in our riparian area. We combine this interest with the knowledge that we are all responsible for its care. We invite you to come and share with us the celebration of our beautiful Earth and the diversity it offers us.
